Why Neuro-Affirming Support Matters
Most of our professional training is focussed on how to deliver neurotypical to neurotypical support, but when we or our clients are neurodivergent this often falls short and leaves everyone feeling unsatisfied. Before becoming aware of my own autistic identity and seeking out affirming support, I was often left feeling I wasn't 'doing therapy right' both as a clients and a professional.
I now know that it was the framework that wasn't right, it didn't allow for my needs as an autistic therapist or client.
In the years since my autism diagnosis and my deep dive into all things neurodivergent I have been lucky enough to work with and learn from some amazing neuro-affirming professionals who helped me in ways that would not have been possible if they didn't make space for my autistic self. Neuro-affirming therapy, supervision and training gives us permission to work in the way that works best for the people we support, regardless of neuro-type.
What do I offer Professionals
About Louise: Lived Experience + Professional Expertise
I'm Louise. I'm a queer, multiply neurodivergent counsellor, supervisor, trainer and author with over a decade of experience across private practice, higher education and the voluntary sector. I bring both professional expertise and lived experience to everything I offer, which means you don't have to explain yourself before we can get started.
When I was first exploring my own neurodivergence and came to recognise that I was autistic, there were very few therapists who were openly talking about their own lived experience as neurodivergent. I was lucky to find some fabulous support and community, eventually, but it took time.
then when I started moving away from more general therapy work, to specialising in supporting neurodivergent folk (something I'd been doing anyway, just without the explicit knowledge) I struggled to find and training beyond Neurodivergence 101. It was this desire to find a framework for the work I was doing with clients that didn't quite fit what I had been taught, that led to me creating my model, then training and now my upcoming book.
When I couldn't find what I needed I created it.

I now share openly about my own lived experience as a neurodivergent therapist, supervisor and trainer and support other practitioners to work in neuro-affirming ways for themselves and their clients.
I offer a range of services to practitioners, so they including 1:1 session (which can count towards supervision hours), group training, webinars and free resources. You'll find more details about all the options by following the links at the top of the page.
If you're unsure of what might work best for you, then please do get in touch with any questions. You can email hello@curiosityspot.co.uk or book a quick chat here.
My book 'A Therapeutic Workbook for Supporting the Wellbeing of Neurodivergent Clients' will be released by Jessica Kingsley Publishing in September 2026. It is based on the Two Spirals Model of Neurodivergent Wellbeing that I developed. It draws together my lived experience, professional knowledge and academic learning and underpins all my work and training.
